Can I work around the hotlinking on the "free" account type?
No, this will be a violation of the Terms of Service, and attempting doing this will usually lead to your account being disabled and/or terminated.

If you wish to use hotlinking (aka. "remote file linking"), you'll need to upgrade your account to a paying account.

If you're already a free.prohosting.com user, you can upgrade your account here:
http://freeadmin.prohosting.com/account_upgrade.asp

If you're not a free.prohosting.com user yet, you can select one of the paid plans from either of these two pages:
https://free.prohosting.com/cgi/signup
